We spent many weeks preparing ourselves, and activities for the whole school to get involved with Orange Shirt Day. Every student at LSS participated in sharing messages of hope on paper T-shirts that we hung in our foyer. On September 29th many students wore orange symbolizing solidarity and unity in the spirit of reconciliation. Four Elders joined us for our school wide Assembly, led by our guest speaker Anne Tenning, and our student body created a warm, inviting, respectful place where these Elders felt safe enough to bravely stand up and share their stories with our school.
