This Week at LSS
Hi LSS
What is the most important part of a house? Roof? – nope although it’s great to stay dry. Kitchen? – no way, although making and eating food is necessary. It is the foundation. Few people when looking for a house get excited about the foundation but if the foundation is poor your house might fall down.
Education is the foundation for your future. Doing well in school by attending, getting work done, building skills and passing classes is a great way to build a strong foundation. Just like foundations school is not always flashy and fun but it is important.
Maybe next time when you are talking to your kids ask them how their foundation is doing. With a strong foundation you can build that dream home.
Terry Fox run – recap
It was a successful run this past Thursday. With excellent planning from students’ council to PHE classes running their best. Class with top donation enjoyed Dilly Bars as they cheered on Daryl Cross as he ran in a silver fox costume. Our school raised $1382.53, well done LSS!
PAC – Part II – Sept 28th on Zoom 6:30 pm
Due to low turnout at our in person AGM this week, we were unable to fill the Executive roles needed to form PAC for the 2021-2022 school year. The election of Directors has been moved to September 28 at 6:30 pm via Zoom. Parents and caregivers are strongly encouraged to attend. Without an executive we lose $13000 in funding for the school to enrich our students’ experience. Please consider joining the executive. I will work to make being on the executive as smooth as possible

Orange Shirt Day – Truth and Reconciliation recognition Sept 29th
To prepare to acknowledge Truth and Reconciliation – Orange shirt day Sept 30th, D block classes will be engaging in some learning and preparing pledges to share with the school community on posters. We will be inviting some classes to sing and drum in our community.
PAC fundraisers
If you have 49th grocery till receipts please send them with your kids and drop off the receipts in the box outside the office – Deposits of refundable bottles, cans and containers should be placed in a clear plastic bag (70 litres or so) and deposited at the Bottle Depot using (250)245-3043. These fundraisers help support our students’ activities. 😊
Textiles and Art class
Do you have any Fashion magazines hanging around your place, maybe even mountain bike (sounds like a fun sport), dirt bike, cars, sports, food, National Geographics, general topics? Drop them off for the Art department.
FJCC Fall Bike Riding program – check out the flyer attached.
Student Verification and Consent Forms
Thank you to all who returned the information and consent forms so far. Some forms are coming back home if signature was missed on a section. Please return forms as soon as possible. Students need consent for the use of technology and application as well as participating in the local walking field trips with classes and it is important that our records are updated with accurate contact and emergency information.
Cafeteria
Every week a menu is created for you to plan ahead – it is on the school website: quick links – cafeteria. You can purchase food cards using online cashless pay system. Students need to hang onto their own cafeteria card as so many students now have them and looking up cards slows food service down. – thanks
