This Week at LSS - March 11th
Hi LSS
As we head into Spring Break to get some down time and rest let’s not forget that in parts of the World rest is not in an individual’s control. This week LSS took a moment to remember that people in the Ukraine are struggling. Hey Travs this is a heavy topic as we move into vacation time. I agree but we need to be mindful that we live in a peace filled nation.
I hope that during the break we can all take some time to remember those in war torn nations and to appreciate where we live.
Enjoy Spring Break
Mask update
Starting March 28th, masks will no longer be required at LSS. I would to thank students for their extraordinary effort in adhering to the mask mandate. You have made your principal very proud. Moving forward some may still want to wear a mask and LSS will be respectful of individual choice. We will still be encouraging good hand hygiene, respecting the personal space of others and staying home when sick.

Young Conservationist Program
The Young Conservationist Scholarship Program (YCSP) launched last year to support youth who are interested in conservation and the environment. We have just opened up applications for our next cohort. The selected candidates will be given the resources and knowledge to make an impact in their schools and communities while competing for a scholarship (Minimum $1000.00)* to be used towards post-secondary education. The program requires youth to attend a 2-day conservation workshop on April 23rd and 24th where youth will meet with experts in the field of conservation and environmentalism and learn how to conduct community conservation projects. The participating youth will then have the opportunity to develop their project proposals to carry out in their own communities over the course of the next eight months. BCWF staff will meet with the youth every two months for additional workshops and to share the progress of their projects. In January 2023, participants will submit their final project reports to a BCWF panel. All projects will be showcased at the 2023 BCWF Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Convention. The winning project will be announced in February 2023 where the winner will be invited to the AGM and present their project at the award gala where they will be presented with their scholarship.
General in-take is now open. General applicants must apply by March 18th, 2022. 10 applicants will be chosen during the general in-take.
