Hi LSS
Well 49ers, there was excitement in the air today here at LSS. As we work to secretly give the grad class of 2021 the best grad memories possible, we may have spilled the beans a little. Today we were filming a video you all may find very entertaining at the end of June. What better way to bring smiles to the faces of our Ladysmith community than by having covid safe fun on the school bus, teachers dancing and the police mock arresting your principal. If you happened to drive by and see lights, cameras and action, please know that we were just filming, being creative and that everyone here at LSS is safe!
The good news keeps on rolling in! Are sports your thing? Two of our grade 12 students have been awarded scholarships as they are superior athletes. Kamryn Grooms is off to Nipissing University in Ontario on a scholarship for ice hockey! She will play hockey and represent our town proudly while studying to become a nurse. Dru Wright is heading to the USA, where he will attend Missouri Valley College on a $19,000 US scholarship. Dru will be playing baseball and working on a kinesiology degree. We can’t wait to watch you on the big screen!!
We had multiple winners from the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Contest. Congratulations to Hannah Burns, Caidence Burns, Olivia Wing and Brooklyn Bianchini.
More amazing news to share! University of Victoria is awarding entrance scholarships to our students for a lot of money!! Ava Smith is the recipient of a $24,000 scholarship to UVIC. She also was awarded a $27,000 scholarship to SFU, but will be heading to Victoria to study geography. Katrina Kurylowich has been awarded a UVIC entrance award for $28,000 and will be off to the capital to study accounting. Skyla Thomas is the recipient of a $24,000 scholarship for UVIC and will be pursing her degree with a long term goal of politics/law. Two other of our grade 12 students have received full-ride scholarships as well for UVIC, for a total of 5 LSS students entering UVIC with their studies paid for. Congrats to all 5 of you for your hard work and dedication to your studies!
