This Week at LSS - June 24 Final edition
Hi LSS
This is an emotional time of year for me.
Thanks goes out to my staff that invest their lives to work with kids – you are a beautiful group of people.
This community means a lot to me and I have so much gratitude for you all.
I get to spend a lot of time with your kids and now for over two months they will be gone. Some are Graduating and I wish them the best as they take their next steps. Some will move away or go to new schools – they will be missed. You are wonderful group of students and I look forward to next year.
It is a privilege to be your Principal. So until next year – Try your Best, Get Better each day and Do the Right thing – Stay awesome 49ers

Happy LGBTQ+ pride, LSS! Ever wondered about the plus? The plus includes “I” for Intersex. Intersex people’s natural bodies defy the male – female binary with ambiguous chromosomes, tissues, or organs. Happy LGBTQ+ pride, LSS! Ever wonder what the plus stands for? It includes 2S for “Two Spirit” Elder Myra Laramee proposed this name as a translation of the Anishinaalee mowin words “niizh manidoowg”. This Week at LSS - June 17th
Hi LSS
Many might know but I wanted to take a moment to let folks know that Mr. Alsop is leaving our school to pursue other endeavours. Mr. Alsop has been a pillar at LSS for many years and has warmed the hearts and minds of many staff and students. His famous beard and joyous laugh will be missed at our school. Best to you in your next adventures Mr. Alsop!
I also want to extend my appreciation to our EAs – the backbone of the work we do. This next week will be their last week. Often the great work they do is not recognized but your kids would not experience the success they do without them.
Pancake Breakfast – June 24th starting around 7:45 am
Field Day – Friday, June 17th.
Big shout out to Ms. Dolen, Ms. Fink and Student Council for organizing a super fun field day. Thank you so much…my kids had a blast! A community member even called in to say how great it was to see and hear kids having fun – what a great community!

Happy pride month LSS! The “T” in LGBTQ+ stands for Transgender. “Trans” means ‘across’ or ‘beyond’ and describes people who journey beyond the gender they were assigned at birth. This Week at LSS - June 10th
Hi LSS
So did you catch the Art Showcase? If not let me fill you in.
Firstly, the turnout was outstanding with an emphasis on standing cause if you showed up even on time you were probably going to have to be standing.
As you entered our foyer, Ms. Hall had numerous displays of student art. The creativity was spectacular. Some works included using a book and transforming it into art – who thinks like that?
Then to start the show, Ms. Dwyer had her dance class dialed in. Super fun with amazing moves, coordination and variety – absolutely entertaining. Chloe was MC and she rocked it by continuing the LSS tradition of Dad jokes.
After a short break, our band groups took the stage: Jazz, Grade 8 and our more senior students displayed their talents once again. The news of the show was when Mr. Alsop announced that he is leaving teaching to pursue other dreams. Tears of sadness and applause of gratitude were expressed. Best to you in your new endeavours Mr. Alsop, you will be missed.
So proud of our Fine Arts Students – I just can’t stop telling everyone the good things happening at LSS.
Stay awesome
