This Week at LSS - Sept 16th
Hi LSS Family
This past week our Team (counsellors, admin, youth support, Indigenous team) held grade wide assemblies for grades 9 – 12 (we met with the grade 8 students on September 6th). One of the big themes was KINDNESS. What if you acted from a lens of kindness? Before you said anything, before you texted, before you posted on social media – what if you asked, “am I being kind?”
Thinking like this helps me as well. LSS let’s be kind.
Picture Day – September 22nd
Get your smile all polished up for it is picture day next week. See flyer for how it all works.
Consent forms
We are looking at the process for getting consent forms out this weekend and there is a very good chance you will see them on Tuesday.

If you are sponsoring a club this year and would like to participate, please let me know. Audrey also has a list of last year’s clubs and will be talking to teachers about the event. We will be setting up after school on September 26th and are looking for student volunteers to promote and help sign up interested students.

This Week at LSS - Sept 9th
Hi LSS Family
Welcome to everyone and especially the new students and families.
I hope the grade 8 students enjoyed their welcome to LSS gym riot on Friday – it looked great.
Students were busy this week finding their classes, doing course changes and learning about those crazy combination locks for lockers.
Every Friday you will receive a “This Week at LSS” information email from me letting you know what great things happened this past week and events coming up.
Super pumped with the maturity of students this week. Loved the friendly check ins I received while I hung out in my hallway office (I do most of my office work in the hallway).
This just might be the greatest year you ever have.
Cafeteria
Same day food service will start on Monday September 19th. Every week a menu is created and starting this year we are having tap pay. Yes, you heard that right, LSS is entering the 21st century. Pay by cash, bank card or credit card. We are the first school in the District to try it out so I hope it runs smoothly. Prices have increased due to the price of food, but it is still the best deal around.
We are serving pizza Monday to Thursday next week and we are going to try out the Tap Pay system. Cash will also be accepted. 2 pieces for $5 or 1 for $3.
Grade wide assembly grades 9-12
Our grade 8 students had an assembly on September 6th where they were introduced to counsellors, family support worker, Indigenous support and learning supports. We talked about “See something-Say something”, antibullying, antiracism along with other topics in our Code of Conduct, how to be a good LSS citizen and finally approaching interactions from a lens of KINDNESS.
On Wednesday the Team will meet with grade 9 to 12 students and review what I mentioned above. For grades 10 – 12.
When we meet with senior students we will also talk about Grad and Scholarships.
Fees and Such
- $26 Student fee (used to support school activities put on by students’ council and other student run clubs). Yes, extra-curricular activities will be happening within our provincial guidelines.
