Hi LSS
Graduation rates are climbing in SD 68. Please take a look at the following article in the Nanaimo News for some good news. This does not happen without parent support. LSS is about perseverance. Let’s keep working together.
Volleyball Intramurals
If you’re interested in playing sports with your friends during lunch, this message is for you! Intramurals are starting back up again for all students, grades 8-12. Our first sport will be volleyball! You create your own team of 8, and play against other teams, in either the junior league (grade 8-9) or the senior league (grade 10-12). Intramurals are a fun way to spend your lunches, where you can play non-competitive and student-run games with your friends. Sign up sheets will have more information and will be in the gym throughout this week, Nov. 29-Dec. 3. Sign ups close on Friday, Dec. 3, and games will start the following week!
Students’ council
It’s starting to look festive at LSS. Thanks to students’ council for organizing a great pancake breakfast and PJ day. Staff enjoyed cooking up batches of pancakes and students enjoyed a nice relaxing start to the day.
But wait there’s more…
December is busy with Winter Festivities.
Student Council will be coming to C-block classes to share information about this year’s events.

Masks update
Strong encouragement to keep wearing your mask and to wear it properly. A reminder video will be coming out very soon for all students. However, I do want to mention that sometimes I hear people say that teenagers are unruly and difficult to work with. I quickly remind them that I work with 650 students and they do a great job in following the mask rule. We just need to keep persevering.
